Now volunteers won't have to have their morning tea in a tin lean-to that was freezing in winter and stifling in summer.
Xstrata's general manager of site services, logistics and engineering, Mark Roberts said the renovations had transformed the space into a much more pleasant area.
Renovations included a new bathroom, an air-conditioner and new paint. The gardens at the Laura Johnson Home had also been tidied up and trees lopped.
"It is very rewarding knowing that these kinds of projects make a real difference to people in our community," Mr Roberts said.
Laura Johnson Home manager Betty Kiernan said Xstrata's ongoing support for the home was appreciated. She also expressed thanks to Isa Kitchens and Mount Isa Shades and Screens who provided floor coverings and kitchen cabinets for the kitchen refurbishment.
