Organiser Clive Featherby cancelled the rally this morning because he would have lost about $100,000 if the rally continued to be held.
The rally will not return to Mount Isa.
“I won’t come back to Mount Isa, this will be the last time,” Mr Featherby said.
It also means that Mount Isa misses out on the opportunity to be filmed for a monster truck documentary to be aired across America.
As part of an agreement the monster truck Bigfoot was to be filmed doing stunts in two Australian inland towns; Mount Isa and Alice Springs.
Mr Featherby said less than 300 tickets were sold for the event which was to be held at Buchanan Park next Saturday.
The audience would have “not even as big as a local school fete.”
Mr Featherby apologised to the Mount Isa community.
“I hate doing this. I’m devastated.
“I really do apologise,” he said.
