Successfully winning division E last year, the side is hopeful it can have a repeat performance at the Queensland Independent Secondary School Netball carnival.

Carmen Preston, Chelsea McKavanagh and Sara Grant from the victorious side have all returned, which manager Mel Allen is ecstatic about.

``We have a good mix of experience and exuberance in this year's team,'' she said.

``Three girls return to lead the team, with some never having played at a netball carnival like this before, which is exciting.'' Competition starts next Monday with the side slated to play seven matches over the first few days. Quarter-finals, semi-finals will follow with the grand final on the Friday.

``We are in the group we wanted against teams such as Aquinas College and Chisholm Catholic College,'' Allen said.

``It's the same division as we were in last year, so we have high hopes for our girls.'' 2014 marks the third straight year the school has attended the prestigious carnival.

``It is very hard to get into the carnival with only 48 schools allowed to send teams each year,'' Allen said.

``There is currently a waiting list of over 12 teams looking to get in, so we will continue to send teams in the future.'' Without ``wonderful sponsorships'' and fund-raising by the girls, Allen said none of this would be possible.

``This year we have the Buffs Club, Airnorth, Mount Isa Shades&Screens, Multi-Tech, Barkly Hire, Enviroblast, Dave Clancy Electrical and Wardle and Associates on board,'' she said.

The Confraternity Shield also doubles up as an opportunity for the girls to be viewed by talent scouts.

``Last year Queensland Firebirds captain Laura Geitz was watching the games in Townsville,'' Allen said.

``Generally, they are looking at teams in division A but there are always a couple of diamonds from lesser-known areas.'' Updates from Assisi Catholic College in Gold Coast will appear next week.
