Camel handler Diane Gooley, from Newcastle’s Oakfield Ranch, said the camels and her team appeared at events including Marree, South Australia, Bedourie.
They would appear in Winton next week.
Ms Gooley said she started handling camels after she fell in love with a camel owner about 10 years ago.
Oakfield Ranch began entering camels at the Boulia Cup about four years ago.
“It rained the first two years in Boulia [we entered], we were very distraught,” Ms Gooley said.
As of Saturday afternoon, the ranch had not done so well on the field, with none of its camels placing first.
The ranch offered camel rides for $10, which would fortunately provide fuel money to Winton if none of the camels received prize money.
The ranch also brought racing donkeys to the event.
