Having met with members of the legal fraternity in the morning, Mr Newman and his senior leadership team are due to meet with the chief of each of the courts at the Supreme Court to discuss recent disagreements.

Relations between the two ends of George Street have not been well after a series of disagreements between the two estates, which included referring to judges as “living in ivory towers”, disputes about the separation of powers and claims of broken confidences.

Following the Stafford by-election defeat with a swing of almost 19 per cent against the Liberal National Party, the government was reeling and has embarked on a quasi apology-tour led by the Premier.

Staying on message is the new mandate, with the government seeking to tone down its combative reputation.

Along with a backdown on some contentious policy issues – such as segregating and dressing imprisoned gang members in pink jumpsuits, restoring estimates to its usual schedule and reinstating the need for bi-partisan support for the head of the state’s crime watchdog – Mr Newman promised to meet with members of the judicial and legal fraternities.

Speaking to FM radio Triple M’s breakfast show, Mr Newman joked he “has the UN coming in” for his meeting as he engaged in a “bit of peace making”.

He may not have the United Nations, but he will have the Attorney-General.

Jarrod Bleijie is expected to front the media – and take questions – for the first time since July 1.

Opposition leader Annastacia Palaszczuk reiterated her stance that the only way Mr Newman could prove  he was "serious" about having a "healthy ongoing relationship" with the judiciary and legal profession was to remove Mr Bleijie from the portfolio.

“The Attorney-General has to share the blame with the Premier for the deterioration in these relationships on top of his string of other bungles,” she said.
