Mount Isa City Council and Mount Isa Mines have funded the $30,000 needed to pay for the cameras and to repair the shade sails.
One camera overlooks the fun park and the other watches over the skate park.
Townsville company Sail Structures replaced the sails at a discounted rate when it learned of the vandalism.
Mount Isa City Mayor Tony McGrady said he was pleased to include the Family Fun Park in the CCTV program circuit.
He was also glad to have the support of Mount Isa Mines to ensure future security of the park.
“Mount Isa Mines have seen the benefit in protecting the city’s valuable assets and making this a more livable city, so we are delighted to have them collaborate on this project,” Cr McGrady said.
It was necessary to have a camera in the park because of the vandalism.
“It is disappointing that it has come to this, but reoccurring attacks have proven that we need to get tough on these offenders,” Cr McGrady said.
Mount Isa Mines senior community relations advisor Michelle Connolly said the company was happy to show support.
The company has donated $1 million towards the development of the park through the Glencore Community Program North Queensland, she said.
“Mount Isa Mines was pleased to be able to help Mount Isa families by contributing to the construction of the Family Fun Park around five years ago, it’s equally important to repair and protect it for the future enjoyment of Mount Isa families,” Ms Connolly said.
At a discounted rate, the sails cost $17,995 to repair, and the camera cost $13,666.
