More importantly, it will unveil the new Cloncurry Equestrian Centre as the host location for the event, which has been years in preparation.
Only two out of the five stages have been completed of the new refurbished event site near the racetrack.
Huge numbers of competitors are already registered for the event, which offers Australia’s richest single payout rodeo held over two action-packed days.
The event has grown exponentially since 1954 and will have Diamond Jubilee Celebrations during the four days starting next Thursday.
“The Diamond Jubilee Street parade will kick off celebrations on Thursday night, walking down Scarr and Ramsay streets,” Curry Merry Muster president Jeremy Grimm said.
Action starts tomorrow, highlighted by the Australian Professional Rodeo Association Pro Rodeo getting under way at 6.30pm.
The rodeo will include events such as bareback bronc riding , barrel race, saddle bronc riding, bull ride, rope and tie and steer wrestling.
“We are expecting a couple of thousand people to come through the gates on Friday, going off the number of tickets already sold,” Grimm said.
“Buses will be running from 4pm till 1am, for all those that are interested in catching public transport to and from the event.
“Pick-up and drop-off points are St Joseph’s Catholic School, the BP service station and Railway Street.”
Saturday will be the busiest day at the event, with events such as Man vs Beast Rodeo competitors and rodeo action taking place.
“I’ve had a word to some of the camping park owners and most of them are already booked out, showing the amount of people that are going to descend on Cloncurry for the anniversary event,’ Grimm said.
“One thing that we have added this year is EFTPOS will be available on site.
“Buses run from midday on the Saturday and will again finish at 1am.”
The event will conclude on the Sunday with the Bush Poets and Campfire Breakfast, Community Markets and Smashin Sunday Sesh starting at 8am.
There will also be live entertainment running every night.
