The 12-year-old claimed the award after she smashed the club record (21.15 metres) by throwing an incredible 24.52 metres.
Waerea threw 23.58 metres in her discus event, claiming the 12-year girls all-comers record.
Tarell Rea showed her versatility by clearing 1.20 metres in the high jump.
Other record breakers on the day were Tanya Hales (40-44 years) 24.33m in the discus, Nancy Wing (70-74 years) 5.40m in shot put and Daniel Wing (44-49 years) 6.77m in F38 Shot Put.
Renee Bracs, Jorja Bell, Ashtyn Tully (missing out by 0.1 seconds in 80m dash), Serena Gowland and Riley Morris all finished up with four personal bests.
Thomas Butterworth managed three.
Denzil “Lightning” Perkins received a trophy for the Most Outstanding Primary School Boy at June’s Athletics North Queensland Student Games in Townsville. This is on top of him achieving the 10-year boys age champion award.
Cloncurry’s Emma Cursio has joined the ranks of the ANQ Development Squad with her 20.22m discus throw gaining her an under 14 Silver Level qualifier.
Brianna “Thor” Smith also added discus to her Development Squad qualifiers throwing 25.55m.
