The brave marsupial was hit by a car near Maryborough and clung to the car's grille for 88km - all the way to Gympie - where he was spotted hanging on for dear life when the car pulled in to a service station on Friday.
A Gympie taxi driver helped the car's occupants keep the koala from wandering on to the road and called Bent St Vet's on-duty vet Geoff Collyer who covered the "incredibly tough'' koala with a towel and provided some pain relief.
"And the result is he seems to be all right," Dr Collyer said.
The koala was taken to the Australia Zoo, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, where staff are waiting on a veterinarian's report.
