MICRRH project officer Kaye Smith told the gathering Tjirtamai Hall was named by a group of Aboriginal students studying a bachelor of nursing in Mount Isa who were talking about how they could improve the health of their community.
Tjirtamai means “to care” in the Kalkadoon language.
The logo that accompanies the name of the building was also designed by Kalkadoon elder Karen Sam.
