Glencore’s North Queensland Copper Operations chief operating officer Mike Westerman got in on the action at last week’s Quamby Rodeo when he tried his hand at the calf scruffing in front of the large crowd.
“The Quamby Rodeo is a great rodeo where everyone can get involved and be a part of the rodeo action,” Mr Westerman said.
“I have taken part in calf scruffing before but never at an event with hundreds of people watching me.
“For me the toughest part of the calf scruffing was probably getting over the chutes.”
Mr Westerman also admitted the McMillan boys probably looked after the competitors a bit this year, with the calves not being as large as previous years.
“While I missed out on the prize my family and I had a great time and we will be back next year.”
