According to the Mount Isa City Council Agenda, the cost for each horse stable had been passed previously but not enforced until this financial year.
Concerned horse stable owners complained to the council about the recent increase, according to the agenda.
An example provided in the agenda suggested each horse stable costs $135.
Instead of horse owners paying $135 in total for the horse stables on the property, as they did previously, they pay for each horse stable.
If they own six horses on the property, the rates would be increased by 600 per cent, the agenda stated.
The motion to continue the new fees was passed by councillors on Wednesday.
