The Rockhampton cowgirl won the barrel race at the first event on the Northern Run at Taroom and is expected to be among the strongest of the 46 nominations in Cloncurry.
There are 412 nominations for the Cloncurry two-day rodeo, one of only four two-day events on the Australian Professional Rodeo Association calendar.
One of those nominations is Tamara Knox, who claimed third place in the May National Finals Rodeo at Caboolture, in breakaway roping.
Knox now sits on top of the leader board in the breakaway roping, following victory at the Northern Run in Taroom.
Knox leads Jorja Iker, of Alton Downs, and Moree rider Wendy Caban – the most successful cowgirl of the past decade – in the APRA standings.
All athletes will have a quick turnaround before Mount Isa Rodeo on August 8-10.
There are already 562 nominations in the eight championship events in Mount Isa and more are expected.
Bull riding will be one of the feature events at Mount Isa with 46 nominations in the open event, 78 in second division and 24 in the junior event.
With no scores recorded in the bull ride at Taroom, the cowboys will be aiming to record strong performances.
