The eBook version of events compiles live coverage and commentary written by Marissa Calligeros, and primarily edited by Brisbane Times deputy editor Danielle Cronin.
More than 10 people from three states contributed to the production of the eBook which takes readers on a journey through the trial, the emotion, and an insight into what jurors heard before the guilty verdict.
It also includes a special feature article, written by Marissa Calligeros after the trial.
Brisbane Times editor-in-chief Simon Holt said this was just another free service provided to readers by Fairfax’s Queensland-based news organisation.
“News on our website remains free, the Brisbane Times iPad app has launched as a free product, and now we’re looking at ways to provide readers with premium content,” he said.
“I concede that journalism – particularly of this quality – is expensive to produce. But we are working on a business model which requires us to generate a large audience.
“We work on the theory that our engagement levels and loyalty will be higher than those of our opposition, which provides advertisers with a stronger opportunity to connect with our local, committed readership base.”
