This is despite a media report that claims 17-year-old Kyle might have been shot by his friend six months ago in bushland 60 kilometres from Camooweal.

A story in today's Townsville Bulletin stated Kyle’s father Rob Coleman said there were traces of his son’s blood on a shotgun owned by unrelated friend, James Coleman.

James and Kyle were both on a hunting trip at Undilla Station before the disappearance was reported on February 21

James committed suicide a few days after Kyle was reported missing.

Mount Isa Police Inspector Trevor Kidd said police could not discuss evidence in detail but the family were free to do so.

Insp Kidd said evidence was still being prepared for the coroner’s report.

He said Kyle’s disappearance was “certainly suspicious in respect of the circumstances.”

Mount Isa detectives were still testing the evidence found and was compiling them into exhibits.

“It’s quite a complex matter,” Insp Kidd said.

Insp Kidd said police could not release more details at this stage.

The North West Star is still seeking further comment from Rob Coleman, which is delayed due to work commitments.

A Coleman family spokesperson said Mr Coleman did not make some of the comments he was attributed to in the Townsville Bulletin
