A yearly tradition as part of National Seniors Week, the morning tea is a way to recognise and honour the contributions made to the community by senior citizens.
Over 60s are invited to join in the free event, which runs from 10am to noon and will feature entertainment including karaoke, piano recitals and a poetry reading by renowned local author Pat Fennell.
Inviting all Mount Isa seniors to come along and partake in a fun and festive occasion, Mayor Tony McGrady is hoping to play host to more than the 100-strong crowd of last year’s event.
Cr McGrady will be assisted by his wife, Sandra, and Councillor Anne Seymour.
‘‘Our last event saw overwhelming attendance and everyone who came along had an excellent time,’’ Cr McGrady said.
“This is our small token of appreciation to those that have helped to build and shape Mount Isa into the wonderful city it is today.”
All attendees have the opportunity to win prizes and vouchers from local businesses.
