The 58-year-old man was on the side of Riding Road when the incident occurred about 1.45pm on Wednesday.

Forensic crash investigators believe a woman was driving the car travelling north when it veered into the parking lane, struck the man and then crashed into a parked car.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the driver remained at the crash site.
