Parts of southeast Queensland are on track to smash their monthly August rainfall averages, with unseasonable falls for the second consecutive weekend.

The Sunshine Coast received the biggest drenching of the state's southeast corner overnight, with Noosa Heads receiving nearly double its August average in the 24 hours leading up to 9am Saturday.
Parts of Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Wide Bay area also received more than their monthly average in the same time period.
The Bureau of Meteorology's Michael Paceh said steady rainfall would continue through Saturday morning and early afternoon but would ease as the day progressed.
He said showers were expected to continue through until Wednesday.
"We do have isolated showers or scattered showers continuing over the next few days, up until Wednesday," he said.
"After that, there's some uncertainty at this stage as to whether they will continue."
The meteorologist said the steady rainfall last weekend and this weekend had been fuelled by a trough and low overhead.
He said while it was unseasonable, it was not unusual to get high rainfalls in the last winter month, despite August averages being low.
"It's well above average, but it's not unusual to get some high falls in August," he said.
"There have been some in the past, not in the recent past but certainly over the last few years we haven't seen totals this high."
However, the rainfall, Mr Paceh said, was largely confined to Queensland's southeast coast, from the Wide Bay area down to the border.
Areas in the state's west badly in need of some falls received little, he said.
Oakey received just 7 millimetres and Toowoomba just 8 millimetres.
"It's really been localised around the coast," he said.
Among some of the falls in coastal regions, Noosa Heads received 88 millimetres in the past 24 hours.
Mr Paceh said its long term August average is 53 millimetres.
Brisbane received falls of up to 50 millimetres, with the city's north recording the highest figures.
Rockwell near Redcliffe received 49 millimetres, just above its August long-term average of 45.9 millimetres.
Parts of the Gold Coast also received up to 70 millimetres, with the Coast's August averages varying from 30 to 50 millimetres.
Brisbane is expected to reach a top temperature of just 18 degrees on Saturday.
