Scorchers held true to their name and blitzed their division 2 grand final opponents, Shooting Stars 35-13, on Wednesday at Wellington Park.
Led by MVP Sarah Arsenich and fellow attackers Dannielle Gulliver and Emma Moro, the Scorchers led at every break.
Shooting Stars duo Nicola Caldwell and Claire Smith played hard all match and troubled their rivals on numerous occasions.
A 16-4 first half by 2PH Bulleyes acted as the catalyst for their 26-13 victory against division 3 rival Lightning.
Charlotte Coghlan was the star for Bulleyes, leading its offensive line and claiming the MVP award.
Kirra Horsnell was another who was strong for the victors, while centre Piper Greena and goal attack Ella Crondren were solid for Lightning.
In the result of the day, Flames secured their first win of the season in the division 4 grand final against 2PH Candy Canes.
Candy Canes came into the match with the wood over their only other division 4 opponent but that didn’t faze Flames.
Three goals in the final quarter and not allowing any second half goals set up the win for Flames.
Kadea O’Donnell claimed the MVP award for her outstanding play and leadership on the court and was supported by partner-in-crime Zoe Blades.
Molly Duffell and Tiarna Krutzfeldt never gave up and kept their Candy Canes right in the match until the final siren.
