"The Newman LNP government's strong plan to revitalise front line services is delivering Queenslanders better access to health services and better education results," the briefing notes detailing the "message of the week" leaked to Fairfax Media read.

"We're boosting teacher quality, fixing up schools, and ensuring people who need elective surgery or turn up at emergency departments receive care sooner.

"We promised to revitalise front line services and that's exactly what we're doing. Only the LNP has a strong plan for a brighter future for all Queenslanders."

Education is one part of that "strong plan" – when promoting Monday's announcement Queensland school students will now learn another language from Year 5, MPs were reminded to include "learning another language provides students with better communication skills and opens their minds to new ideas".

Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek, who manages to avoid regurgitating "strong plan, bright future" for the most part, did his job in selling his portfolio's announcement.

"All the studies show that the primary language actually benefits from learning another language as well," he said.

"So we are confident that learning another language will actually help students as young as Prep to do better in their primary language, which in the majority of cases is going to be English."

And so did many of his colleagues, by spreading the social media love.

A united front is one part of the plan to win voters back ahead of the 2015 election, with government advisors keen to compare and contrast the LNP with Labor.

"If asked about the ALP conference: Over the weekend, the ALP had a chance to detail its plan to tackle debt and build infrastructure a growing state needs. It failed. The ALP isn't listening to Queenslanders. It's only listening to the unions who decide its policy and decide who will be the leader.

"If asked about Labor's record: Labor and the minor parties offer nothing but inexperience and chaos. Labor has not learnt from their past mistakes; they have chosen the same failed team; they have no real policies and no way to fund them.  Labor will revert to higher debt and deficit, higher taxes and waste. That puts Queensland's future in jeopardy."

That comparison includes issues which may not have been favourable to the government.

"If asked about discrepancies in online diaries; This government is leading the nation in openness and accountability by publishing ministerial diaries. It's done in accordance with RTI provisions. The Opposition leader continues to struggle to release her diary each month."

Government MPs would also be smart to push "Labor lies" about asset sales, "don't listen to their words, look at Labor's form. They say one thing before an election and do another after an election", the Opposition's plan to "sell assets and...increase taxes", as well as how the Opposition "owe it to Queenslanders to tell them if and how they wold tackle their $80 billion debt legacy and build the infrastructure our growing state needs".

Outside Cabinet on Monday morning, some ministers were better than others at sticking to the script.

David Crisafulli, who has turned the "grab and run" into an art form, walked away from a question on the Labor conference, while Steve Dickson attempted to turn a question on the other Australian states supporting the Queensland government's defence of its bikie laws into something similar to the "strong plan, bright future" mantra.

"I think it just comes out to prove exactly what the Newman government has done to make Queensland a safer place, now all the Premiers, right across Australia want Australia to be the safest place in the world and why shouldn't it be?" he said.

But Scott Emerson, who has proved adept at answering different questions with the same line in recent weeks, once again showed his colleagues how it was done, when asked about the Labor conference.

"Look, the concern I had with the ALP conference on the weekend, again, was they didn't deal with any issues of debt and deficit that they left behind.  No plans at all to deal with those problems. No plans to build infrastructure.

"...They have had a weekend conference, still didn't deal with debt and deficit they created. Still didn't deal with the solutions to building infrastructure."

Government MPs spent last parliamentary question time, which coincided with 'law and order week' asking "questions without notice" on crime statistics for their electorate. This week's parliamentary sessions are expected to focus on hospital waiting lists and Naplan results.
