Rhys Ledgard, a 27-year-old tenor singer who will play a soldier in the La Boheme musical, has been in remission for testicular cancer the last eight months.
“La Boheme will be my grand finale, my last big bang,” Mr Ledgard said.
Mr Ledgard has lived in Mount Isa for four years since he moved from Sydney in 2010.
His performance resume includes singing at the Sydney Opera House and being part of the Australian Youth Choir who sang I Still Call Australia Home in a popular Qantas advertisement.
“Unfortunately I was only part of the vocal side of things,” Mr Ledgard said, clearly desiring the chance to appear on television.
He was dedicated even in the choir performances at school, once even fainting because he held his breath too long.
It is no surprise then that Mr Ledgard would continue singing even after leaving Mount Isa.
“I will sing until my last breath hits me,” he vowed.
Mr Ledgard appeared steadfast regardless of what might happen in the future.
“Even then there will still be recordings. Music shall always live on in the hearts of people.”
