Hornets under 8s got the day underway, defeating T-Birds 2-1 in a nail-biter, with two goals by Hornets star Noah Pyke proving the difference.
Pyke was well supported by Madison Sheehan, who continues to show huge improvements.
T-Birds were held by goal-scorer Lucy Maslin and the hard-working Ajae Beauclerc.
Pirates defeated Aces in the other under 8s match, in a tight-fought contest.
Aces welcomed new youngster Destinee Philip to the team, and she showed plenty of promise.
In the under 11s, Aces had one of their strongest wins of the season, overcoming the determined Pirates 4-3.
Mikeal Kuskopf, Laz Blythe and Connor Blythe scored the goals for Aces, while goal keeper Brock Philip proved the difference, holding out numerous Pirate raids.
Bailey Cliff and Bailey Harris scored Pirates’ goals while star Amy Jones has a hand in many of the goals with handy passes.
Hornets continued to improve on their ominous form, defeating T-Birds 5-0, on the back of goals by Noah Pyke, Jamaron Mothe and the speedy Cooper Gunningham.
T-Birds duo Maddison Moore and Alysha Laver held their ground and never stopped.
The Aces recorded a much needed win (2-1) against Pirates in the under 15s, thanks to goals from Leo Schafer and Tristan Sloane.
Michaiah Tofinga was the Ace’s best on the day, breaking down the Pirates’ defence in numerous occasions with her passing.
Pirates star Davide Crosato Junior scored their only goal while Shauntelle Harris played her heart out.
Hornets came back with vengeance this week and proved how dangerous they can be with a full complement of players, defeating T-Birds 6-0.
A three pronged attack of Jacob Pyke, Callum Jones and Kodi Bateman found their names on the score-sheet, while keeper Bryce Johnson was outstandingly, maintaining a clean-sheet.
Chris Holdsworth and Henry Carland had handy performances for T-Birds as Brady Higgs enjoyed stepping up from the lower grades.
Umpires coach Scott McCormick was pleased with the performances of aspiring umpires Alyssa Liddle and Steven Milligan’s progress at the Mount Isa hockey fields.
The juniors’ grand final day kicks-off at 10.30am at the Mount Isa hockey fields, with fans encouraged to dress in their team’s colours.
A war paint station will be set up to paint the faces of anyone who would like it.
After the games, a presentation will be held at 1pm along with a free sausage sizzle, to celebrate the wonderful season.
