The win was set up by Gordon’s strong round of 82 on the Saturday and solidified by her sensational round of 78 on the Sunday.
Gordon’s gross total of 160 was highlighted by her controlled tee shots and accurate approach shots to the greens.
Alison Gordon-Dunbar, Gordon’s sister, also shared in the spoils, claiming the A Grade title with a total of 176 gross.
Gordon-Dunbar managed to sneak in under the radar, adopting a slow, steady approach while keeping her errors to a minimum.
Gail Kum Sing secured the A Grade gross runner-up with a 178 gross total across the two days.
“Each year the small township of Boulia swells in population at the end of August, providing warm hospitality and that ‘country charm’ for all the competitors,” competitor Kum Sing said.
“The sand green golf course is a credit to the small band of volunteers and workers they have on hand.”
“Without them, the course wouldn’t be nearly as challenging, as all golfers require precision, accuracy and good club selection just to survive.”
“It’s for this reason, Mount Isa always send a strong contingent to this event each year.”
In the B Grade competition, ex Boulia golfer Kate Krause proved she still had the local knowledge which provided her with the upper hand to successfully defend her title, with a gross score of 194.
Another Mount Isa golfer to enjoy success was Dianne Foot who was awarded the B Grade gross runner-up with a total of 217.
Victorian visitor Margaret Bland took the handicap honours claiming the B Grade nett award, while Gordon-Dunbar (142 nett) also claimed the senior ladies award.
Ladies nett winner and putting champion with a miserly 50 putts for the weekend was Annette Gordon.
Other award recipients included Gail Kum Sing for the longest drives on holes 1 and 16 while the nearest to the pin recipients were Eva Gordon (10th hole), Margaret Bland (6th) and Alison Gordon-Dunbar (18th).
In other golf news, Ulla Allen won the mid week Bax Plumbing Par event at the Mount Isa Golf Club, with a +3 result, with Kum Sing claiming runner-up.
On Saturday, for those who did not travel to Boulia, a stableford event was held at the Mount Isa Golf Club, with Cheryl Foot securing the win with 37 points.
Rene Thompson’s 36 points was enough to she her claim second as Foot (2nd hole) and Ulla Allen (14th) won the accuracy awards.
