MOUNT Isa golfer Robbie Murphy kept up his strong form of late, securing the Boulia Open on the back of rounds of 70 and 71.

Murphy’s 141 total across the 36 holes was enough to hold off A-grade gross winner Brent Clark’s score of 149 (77 and 72) and runner-up John Brentley (153).
Jacob Smith claimed the B-grade gross title, with an impressive 81 and 74 (155) on Saturday and Sunday respectively, ahead of second-placed Willie Parsons’ 164.
Nett winners at the weekend were Glen Gardner with 134 (A-grade) and Heath Thompson with 155 (B-grade), while Murray Smith became the senior champion with 132.
John Rodden was the best of the 32 golfers who didn’t make the trip to Boulia, recording a +9 at the Mount Isa Golf Club.
Cliff Pearson was just one stroke back with a +8 in the dry conditions ahead of Peter Montgomery (+7), Kevin Smart (+7) and Danny Goddard (+5).
Nearest to the pin recipients were Peter Montgomery (4th hole), Chris Crouch (6th), Chris McIntosh (9th), Kevin Smart (10th), Chris Crouch (14th) and Andrew Bell (18th).
All golfers will return to action at the Mount Isa Golf Club to compete in a single stableford event.
