Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney discovered that throwing eggs sometimes leaves some on your face on Thursday, a day after he gave the Opposition a memorable smack down for its failure to check information.

While Wednesday' parliament session taught the Opposition to Google ahead of assuming, Thursday saw the government schooled in triple checking the information provided to it is correct before throwing down.

Never one to back away from a fight, Mr Seeney jumped at the chance to call the Opposition out on its imputation Crosby Textor, who have been engaged by the government to consult on its privatisation campaign, were also lobbying the government on behalf of a casino client, creating a conflict of interest.

The Labor MPs were implying the alleged casino client was Crown Development Pty Ltd, which was listed as one of Crosby Textor's clients on the Queensland lobbyist register.

Mr Seeney was more than happy to tell them research his staff had taken "about three minutes to do" revealed Crown Development was a small firm in Newtown, completely removed from Crown Resorts, which is one of the firms chasing Brisbane's golden casino ticket.

Enjoying the chance to attack, Mr Seeney then suggested the "Opposition should step aside and dial [the business's number] and apologise to Crown Development Pty Ltd".

Had the Opposition done that, they would have discovered that Crown Development Pty Ltd had no idea who Crosby Textor were, nor had they ever done business in Queensland.

But Crown International Holdings, did know who Crosby Textor were. And that is who the Liberal pollsters had meant to put on the lobbyist's register as its former client.

Crown International, a residential property developer, is still not related to Crown Resorts.  But neither is it Crown Development, which is who the deputy premier told the Opposition to call and apologise.

After being told of the mistake, Crosby Textor wrote to the Queensland Integrity Commissioner and advised its entry is "incorrect and should be corrected as a matter of priority", adding that it had never acted for Crown International in Queensland.

But while both the Opposition and the deputy premier held the wrong crown, the Premier's office had the right one - but didn't know it.

It had distributed a donation return to journalists on Wednesday, showing that Crown International had donated $1000 to the Labor party in June-December 2010, but did not make the connection that Mr Seeney's speech related to Crown Developments.

The Opposition, having already had one bite of the cherry and found it sour, declined to comment on the Crown debacle.

But Mr Seeney said his original point - that the government's probity process in regards to casino licences was robust - still stood.

"Labor's claims about the rigours of the probity process being applied to the integrated resort process remains as insulting and ill-founded today, as they were yesterday," he said.
