Queensland Corrective Services announced the arrest on Tuesday afternoon after an alleged breach of a supervision order issued under the Dangerous Prisoner (Sexual Offenders) Act.
"He is in custody and the matter will be listed for an initial hearing in the Supreme Court at a date to be determined," QCS said in a statement.
Fardon was released under a strict supervision order following a ruling by Supreme Court Justice Debra Mullins in February last year.
He was released on February 14 – Valentine's Day – under 34 conditions, including having to undergo electronic monitoring and abide by a curfew, and abstain from drugs and alcohol.
The Newman government this year conceded defeat in its bid to keep Fardon behind bars.
