The small profile tells the story of how the long-time locals and small businesses operators Peta and Mal MacRae (pictured) moved from selling magazines and scratchies to ordering in gifts and making coffees to keep their regular clientele happy.
The couple behind MacRae News said getting selected to be part of the book was a huge surprise.
Last week the small business spoke out in support of efforts to block Sunday trading in the city.
Mr MacRae reiterated that refusing larger retailers the extra trading privilege was one way the city could show its support for small business this year.
“Look after us because we’re the people who build the town, not people from outside,” he said. “If people want small business to be viable, they should support them.”
Mrs MacRae said that if people looked locally for products first they may be surprised by what they found.
“A lot of people don’t look local first, and after they pay for something online and add the cost of postage it ends up being more expensive than something we have here already,” she said.
The pair also thanked family, friends and regular customers for showing their support and making the small business a success.
