The bras are a reminder that Mount Isa still has one week to contribute to the World’s Longest Bra Chain.
Aiming for 200,000 bras, the Townsville-based fund-raiser called on its regional sisters for support.
Mount Isa co-ordinator Sue Wicks took up the call. With the help of local businesses, she has been collecting bras for the past three months.
Ms Wicks said the collection had grown considerably by placing some of the bras in such an iconic space as the Hard Times Mine headframe.
“We have had bras on the deck at the Isa Hotel, strung across the front of Brogden’s, decorating Paint & Decor, adding some fun to Curves gym, and now hanging from the headframe.”
The display has seen the collection grow with about 100 bras being handed in at Outback at Isa over the past weeks. The bras have turned out to be a talking point for tourists and locals.
For those still wanting to donate their bras and a $2 coin, the Mount Isa collection will close on September 22; the bras will then be packaged and forwarded to Townsville. Collection points are at Outback at Isa, Brogden’s, Curves and the Webb Street Post Office and Gift Shop.
