Ms Stuckey announced those same numbers in April.

Premier Campbell Newman and Ms Stuckey released the latest 'Destination Q' report card while in Noosa earlier this week.

"...The key take-homes are that there have been 27,000 extra jobs created in tourism since Destination Q 2012, 27,000 jobs particularly for young Queenslanders and we've seen an increase in the industry's size of $3.5 billion - that's its contribution to our state's economy right now," Mr Newman said.

Ms Stuckey wholeheartedly agreed.

"Our progress to date and the report card that we're sharing with you today proudly displays an increase in $3.5 billion dollars to our state's economy since the Newman government came into office in 2012," she said on Tuesday.

"The extra 27,000 jobs of course are also very impressive and helpful for our small businesses. But it's the 20 million visitors who are coming here to enjoy what we have to offer that we need to make sure have an experience to remember and one that they are going to share around the world."

Which is very similar to what she said five months and two media advisors ago when the latest State Tourism Satellite Account figures were released.

"Today's data shows that since the LNP came into government two years ago, the tourism industry has seen economic growth of more than $3.5 billion," she said in an April 2 release.

"Our tourism industry is responsible for sustaining 241,000 Queensland jobs – up 27,000 from when Labor was in power."

Pete Faulkner from Conus Business Consultancy in north Queensland questioned the data in April; "the problem comes when we realise that the TRA report relates to the fiscal year [i.e. June to June] and as such includes data only up to end June 2013".

"The $3.5bn increase claimed by Stuckey as being "since the LNP came into government" is actually since end June 2011; well before the LNP victory in March 2012," he wrote in a report published on his website.

He questioned the figures again this week.

Ms Stuckey stood by the numbers, but admitted the figures took into account time before the LNP was in power.

"The DestinationQ report card highlights the significant turnaround in tourism the Newman government has achieved in partnership with industry," she said in a statement.

"The report card identifies growth and movement since 2011 using recognised data collected from TRA in a recognised fiscal period. [June-June]."

The most recent Tourism Research Australia's International Visitors Survey for the June quarter, released last week, found international visitors to Queensland rose 1 per cent, from 2.04 million to 2.07 million. Victoria saw an 11 per cent rise over the same period, while New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia were up 7 per cent.

The domestic tourism market saw a growth of just 1 per cent from 17.96 million to 18.07 million.

Those numbers coincided with a $24.94 million cut to Tourism and Events Queensland's funding.

But Ms Stuckey defended the government, saying it had invested $49.5 million in new money into TEQ over the past two years, while $82.5 million had been spent on international and domestic marketing.

On Wednesday, the government launched a new Chinese tourism campaign.
