Constable Whitney Dickson, who will liaise with the school from this week, said police were “trying to squash” illegal parking in loading zones and double parking.
If one person did it then others would copy, Constable Dickson said.
She said loading zones were for trucks and delivery drivers, and unauthorised parking in those zones only increased obstacles on the road for children.
Constable Dickson reminded the community to only drive 40 kilometres an hour in school zones in the designated times, and to be mindful of children.
Drivers should also remember that police were keeping an eye on school zones, she said.
From August 1 to September 19, Mount Isa police have given 22 speeding infringements, six infringements for not wearing a seatbelt and one infringement for using a mobile phone while driving.
In the same period through the entire Mount Isa district, which covers as far south as Birdsville, police have given 208 speeding infringements, 21 infringements for not wearing a seatbelt and eight infringements from using mobile phones while driving.
But these statistics were not specific to school zones.
