Rohan Webb’s side lacked consistency mid-way through the season, but finally started to click in the second half of the year.
Its attacking, free-flowing footy was a thing of beauty and near impossible to stop.
■Jamison Billy announced himself as a superstar this season, leading the league in goals kicked.
The x-factor forward produced plenty of goals out of nothing and his combination of speed and ball control could see him destined for higher honours.
■Ryan White claimed the Buffaloes’ second consecutive Cargill Medal, as the league’s best and fairest.
In his first season for the club, White was the key to the Buffaloes’ midfield, constantly proving to be the match winner.
He follows in the footsteps of 2013 winner James Page.
■Rovers’ Michael Dombroski came second in the count, with Tigers’ Jarryd Harrison third.
■Tigers won the minor premiership and successfully completed the double by defeating Lake Nash in the grand final.
It’s the first time the Tigers have won the competition since 2011 and they were the strongest team all season.
LOWLIGHTS
■Tigers’ captain Jarryd Harrison broke his arm in the preliminary final win against Rovers and was ruled out of the grand final.
The inspirational captain was forced to sit and watch from the sidelines as his side claimed the title.
■The judiciary hearing about the incident between Jamie McPherson and umpire Michael Neede.
The Rovers’ playing coach was suspended for six weeks for allegedly head-butting Neede in his side’s final regular season match against Lake Nash.
These kinds of acts have no place in the sport, so it was great to see the tribunal make a stand.
