Mount Isa Mayor Tony McGrady, North Queensland Copper Assets Australia chief mining officer Matt O’Neill, and pool managers Brian and Bernadette Rodriquez joined the celebrations and handed out cake and ice blocks to scores of pool-goers.
Joint funding between Glencore and the Mount Isa City Council saw more than $250,000 pumped into the pool project.
With the heating of the main pool switched on in 2013, the leisure pool now completes the total project, allowing the facility to be utilised and enjoyed by all residents year-round.
