Lachlan’s astonishing form saw him clear 2.30 metres, well above the previously held record.
Patrick Baker was also strong in the pole vault, equalling Andrew Butler’s 13-year-old boys club record of 1.60 metres.
The pair along with Dan Butler and CJ Brice-Houseman all achieved Silver ANQ Development Squad qualifiers for their jumps.
In attempt to push each other, 10-year-old Denzil Perkins and 11-year-old Michelle Bracs were put in the same 70-metre sprint at Sunset Oval.
The duo ran a dead-heat of 9.5 seconds in the 70-metre sprint, a personal best by 0.9 seconds for Denzil while Michelle took a whole second of her record.
Melanie Butler, 11, seems to have found her pet event, lowering the 700m walk time for her age group to 5 minutes 14.3 seconds.
Masters Tanya Hales and David Heness broke records in the walk too, recording 13 minutes 38.9 seconds and 12 minutes 21.2 seconds respectively in the 1500 metres.
In the hurdles, Jade Scott displayed magnificent technique powering home in 16.1 seconds in the 13-year girls 80-metre hurdles.
Not to be outdone, Barbara Baker broke the 60m 40-44-year women’s record with a 11.5 seconds run, while creating a new time for the 80m and 100 yards events,
The 3000m continues to grow in popularity, with Terri-Anne Knight (11-year girls) and Patrick Baker (13-year boys) lowering their respective records for the 7.5 laps around Sunset Oval.
Seven-year-old Sienna Stehbens continued her hot form from the season, smashing the 400m record with a time of 1 minute and 36.7 seconds.
Sienna and Luke Hales had solid attempts in the high-jump, finishing with jumps of 86 centimetres and 81cm respectively.
Patrick Baker, Lachlan McCoy, CJ Brice-Houseman and Dan Butler’s form in the pole-vault is timely, as the quartet will join Jade Scott in competing in next week’s Athletics North Queensland Championships.
