Luke Hodge (15) Norm Smith Medalist. Courage personified. Settled the side when required. The ultimate big game performer, the inspirational captain stood out on the biggest day of the year again.

Sam Mitchell (5) Best man on the ground in the first half with his exquisite skills and hardness at the contest.

Ben Stratton (24) Went back with the flight of the ball with three minutes to go in the last term when the game was already won. That summed up Hawthorn's commitment from the first bounce to the last.

Brad Hill (10) His willingness to run all day set up countless scores for Hawthorn and was in the best five players on the ground.

Will Langford (29) With three goals, six tackles, 21 disposals, Langford capped off a dream first season in the big time with a big game performance.

Isaac Smith (16) Had Cunningham run with him for most of the day and didn't influence the game as much as he has in previous finals but continued to run all day.

Jack Gunston (19) Missed some golden opportunities early, but finished with 2.3. Was always a threat to the Sydney defence.

Luke Breust (22) After a quiet finals series, Breust showed his All-Australian qualities today with a complete performance. Capped off with three big goals.

Jordan Lewis (3) Like Hodge, another warrior-like performance from Lewis who could easily have been the Norm Smith Medal winnmer with 37 disposals and seven clearances.

Jarryd Roughead (2) Hawks player of the finals series. Stood up on the big stage with 5 goals as the most influential forward on the ground.

Paul Puopolo (28) The ultimate role player in the Hawks forward line. Provided relentless pressure on the Sydney defenders for much of the day but didn't find much of the footy.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Ben McEvoy (7) Justified his selection with a strong display in the ruck, but had his biggest influence in the first half with his five marks around the ground.

FOLLOWERS:

David Hale (20) Not a huge influence on this match but his importance to this side can't be underestimated.

Liam Shiels (26) One of the unheralded Hawks who consistently plays well in big games and for the second year running has been a major influence in the Hawks going back-to-back.

Shaun Burgoyne (9) Set the scene early with 10 disposals in the first quarter and capped off a brilliant game with two goals in the last.

INTERCHANGE:

Matt Spangher (27) The new cult hero. Continually showed courage in zoning off Josh Gibson in the air. And after two years as an emergency in grand finals, there isn't a better story than Spangher's.

Taylor Duryea (8) Nine disposals in 25 minutes of footy. Duryea capped off a breakout year and thoroughly deserves to be a premiership player.

Matt Suckling (4) After last year's heartbreak in missing the grand final, Suckling was at his destructive best with 18 disposals and a big goal in the third term. One of the great success stories.

Cyril Rioli (33) Possessions will never really tell the story of Cyril's impact but his chasing, tackling and harassment of the Sydney backline set the tone early in the match.

SYDNEY

BACKS:

Ted Richards (25) Beaten on the day after conceding five goals to Roughead. Wasn't helped by his midfield.

Rating: 3 out of 10

Nick Smith (40) Like Dane Rampe, Smith was under the pump for most of the day and his small forward opponents, Breust and Rioli, got the better of him.

Rating: 3 out of 10

Rhyce Shaw (2) Continued to provide run and carry off half back when the majority of his team-mates couldn't and he'd be one of a few Swans who could hold their head up high.

HALF BACKS:

Gary Rohan (16) Just two disposals to three-quarter-time and seven for the match. One of many Swans who was exposed on grand final day.

Dane Rampe (24) Rampe was under siege in defence, but panicked under the heat of the Hawks pressure on a number of occasions.

Rating: 3 out of 10

Heath Grundy (39) Bad moment early in the game putting up a fist when he should have taken the mark and failed to support Richards in the air.

CENTRES:

Kieren Jack (15) One of many Swans mids to lower their colours. Battled the game out well kicking two goals, but the horse had bolted in the first half.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Josh Kennedy (12) Led the Sydney ball winners with 29 disposals, but was beaten on the day by Mitchell who had a greater influence on the game.

Rating: 7 out of 10

Lewis Jetta (32) Let himself and his team down badly by not being hard enough at the contest and his inability to run or provide any defensive pressure.

Rating: 1 out of 10

HALF-FORWARDS:

Lance Franklin (23) Was one of the better Swans. Looked dangerous every time the ball went near him, but with just 44 inside 50s, he couldn't have done too much more.

Rating: 7 out of 10

Dan Hannebery (4) One of the major ball winners with 20 disposals, but none of them were damaging and he was unable to hit the scoreboard.

Rating: 5 out of 10

Harry Cunningham (7) Curbed Isaac Smiths' influence on the game, but with just nine disposals, he was unable to provide anything for Sydney when it came to attack and creating scoring opportunities.

Adam Goodes (37) Like Tippett, starved of opportunities inside forward 50, but was rewarded with two goals. Didn't have a major influence.

Ben McGlynn (21) One of many Swans to not impact the game with just 11 disposals and one goal. Lacked his usual spark.

Rating: 3 out of 10

Kurt Tippett (8) One of the few Swans who can hold his head up high with his effort, but lacked the supply to have an impact inside the forward 50.

FOLLOWERS:

Mike Pyke (38) Got first hands on the ball for his midfield with 32 hitouts, but many of them lacked effect and was unable to have any influence around the ground.

Luke Parker (26) After a huge year in 2014, he had no impact on this grand final.

Jarrad McVeigh (3) No impact on the game whatsoever. Just five disposals in the first half when the game was at its hottest.

Nick Malceski (9) One of the better Swans on the ground who continued to provide drive off half back with 10 rebounds out of defensive 50.

Jake Lloyd (44) The young man looked overawed under the extreme pressure of the Hawks and was eventually subbed out late in game.

Sam Reid (20) Not physical enough in the air and he's continually knocked off the ball and he would be bitterly disappointed about his grand final performance.

Craig Bird (14) Had a crack when he came on the the game was over and in hindsight, I believe Longmire should have started Bird in the starting 18.
