Premier Campbell Newman's cabinet colleagues had their talking points regarding the former Labor MP's return to the Ashgrove electorate battle ground and they weren't afraid to deploy them.

In short - "there is no need for an alternative Premier plan because Mr Newman is going to win Ashgrove".

Bonus points were given to ministers who were able to work government buzzwords such as "strong", "bright" and "plan" into their answers.

"I'm confident, as I said yesterday, that Queenslanders know when they come to the election that we've got a government that has a strong plan with a strong leader, and for him to continue doing the job he's got to be re-elected," Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said.

"The Premier's working very hard, all the time on weekends and a couple of days a week in Ashgrove and I know he's going to continue to do that."

Racing Minister Steve Dickson agreed.

"Campbell Newman will be the next Premier of Queensland. He is doing an outstanding job delivering for the people of Ashgrove," he said.

"He spends an adequate amount of time in his electorate right now. I know he's representing the people of Ashgrove really well and delivering great outcomes.

"I was there with him last Friday at Walkabout Creek.

"He will spend as much time as he humanly can [in his electorate] as all ministers will in his electorate."

Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey also had her line.

"I am very confident that the Premier will win and if you look at his track record, it certainly speaks for itself," she said.

As did Mines Minister Andrew Cripps.

"I don't think it is any secret that Kate Jones was part of a government that bestowed upon this government a whole series of very difficult issues and that we have had to make a lot of hard decisions about," he said.

"I think that the people of Ashgrove should be very mindful of not going back to that problem and not going back to a government that had no solutions and left Queensland with an enormous debt."

Ms Jones was a "recycled candidate" Energy Minister Mark McArdle said, ignoring that the LNP plans to recycle Kerri-Anne Dooley as its candidate for Redcliffe.

"Campbell has been fighting very hard from day one," he said. "He will fight a tough hard battle against a recycled candidate.

"We are confident that Campbell will win the election campaign and retain Ashgrove. I believe Campbell is a strong choice for a very tough area that needs strong leadership."

But the question which plagued the LNP during the 2012 election campaign - who would be Premier if Mr Newman did not win his seat - has already made a comeback.

Ministers have as many answers now, as they did then. None.

"I'm happy doing the job I'm doing," former LNP leader Mr Langbroek said.

Mr McArdle said he had already made it "quite clear before".

"One plan - A for Ashgrove. End of story," he said.

Local Government Minister David Crisafulli, who is mastering the art of saying a prepared one liner and then bolting, said there was no need for an alternative Premier plan.

"That's the same nonsense we heard a couple of years ago," he said.

"The difference this time is they can judge a bloke who has been a very effective Premier and a very effective local member."

Mr Newman will be have at least a week before he is bombarded with the same question, having taken this week off.
