Initial information suggests four cars and a truck collided about 200 metres shy of the peak of the northbound Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge about 5.40am on Wednesday.
The crash was cleared by 6.30am, but motorists are facing lengthy residual delays.
Northbound traffic has slowed to a crawl for about five kilometres from Miles Platting Road at Rochedale to the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge at Murarrie.
One man involved in the crash has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with back pain.
