A man has been charged with murder over the death of a prisoner in the Wacol jail nearly two decades ago.

Jason Lee Evans was 21 when he was found dead inside his cell on February 1, 1995 in the Wacol prison, formerly known as the Sir David Longlands Correctional Centre.
A 41-year-old man, Terry Freeman, was charged with murder on Wednesday.
Mr Freeman is currently in custody.
He will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 22.
Mr Evans' death was one of a number of cases re-opened by Queensland Police in the early 2000s, as part of an operation investigating 12 suspicious deaths in custody after 1994.
According to newspaper reports in 2001, at least five of the deaths, including Mr Evans', were initially ruled to be suicide or death by misadventure.
