Hundreds of people from Mount Isa and throughout Queensland visited the Mount Isa City Council Library during the four-day festival, which included storytelling and crafts for children, poetry and pizza workshops, digital storytelling, and writing workshops.
Special guests included ABC Open producer Brendan Mounter, poet Matt Hetherington, poet and performer David Stavanger (aka Ghostboy), and local authors Karen Fainges, Travis and Tiffany Corlis, and Pat Fennell.
Festival co-ordinator Samantha Schraag and Mayor Tony McGrady addressed the audience at the closing ceremony on Saturday.
“It is truly inspirational to see the amount of talent that we have in Mount Isa, and events such as this go a long way to inspiring others to continue to develop their skills and keep the written word alive through stories, novels, poems, and speech,” Cr McGrady said.
“Congratulations to all guests, organisers, and attendees who have been a part of this fantastic event.”
