Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo manager Natalie Flecker acknowledged the fund-raising efforts of the 2014 Isa Rotary Rodeo Queen Dannielle Horwood, 2014 Charity Queen Tegan Kastermans (who was unable to attend due to work commitments) and quest entrant Alex Burgaretta who raised a combined total of $71,234.55.
“We have again been very fortunate to have three entrants who have put an incredible amount of effort into the 2014 Isa Rotary Rodeo Queen Quest by representing the Isa Rodeo as ambassadors for our event and of course, the huge task of raising funds for their chosen charities,” Ms Flecker said.
“What an amazing contribution the three of you have given, not only to your charity but to the Mount Isa community at large.”
Dannielle Horwood presented her cheque of $21,758.60 to Kellie Barnes from Neighbourhood Watch; Alex Burgaretta presented her cheque of $14,563.50 to Sue Carson, of Paws, Hoofs & Claws; and on behalf of Tegan Kastermans, a cheque for $34,912.90 was presented to Sue Morgan, of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Guests included Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo board members including chairman Darren Campi, Queen Quest director Tracy Pertovt, Mount Isa Rotary Club president Karen Krestchmann and south west president Paul Silva, 2015 Queen Quest co-ordinator Lucy Williams and representatives of the three charities.
Ms Flecker said a charity auction with Robbie Katter as auctioneer at this year’s Rodeo Ball had also raised just over $15,000 for Buy A Bale.
A cheque was presented to Todd Von Hoff from Buy a Bale, who said the donation would go towards a full truck load of hay being delivered to people in our community before Christmas.
Ms Flecker said combined fund-raising efforts for 2014 achieved a grand total of $86,310.00.
“Thank you to our queens, our combined rotary clubs, the generous businesses and individuals who donated or gave up time to assist and of course our MIRRI board,” she said.
An information night for entrants interested in joining the 2015 Isa Rodeo Queen Quest will be held at the Isa Rodeo office on October 14 at 7pm.
