"I went to Dubai when I was 20, not to ride for Godolphin, but you could see it's an incredible system and business," said Huet, who has four rides for John O'Shea at Randwick on Saturday. "Everywhere in the world, people in the racing industry know about Godolphin and Sheikh Mohammed. It's always good to work with the blue colours."

Huet will also ride last week's track-record breaker Order Of The Sun in the listed City Tattersalls Club Cup as one of two mounts for Gai Waterhouse. Order Of The Sun's Randwick 2000-metre course record was lowered a couple of hours later by Hampton Court. "Gai's horses are always very tough and fit enough to back up in a week, like Hampton Court last weekend," he said.

"I'm very confident with this horse [Order Of The Sun] and I'm hoping I can ride another winner with him and one or two for Godolphin. I think it's time to have the opportunity to ride more winners in the city and show people I can do the job."

Switch all the talk

Gary Portelli was not at all scared to take on boom horse Deep Field at Randwick until Craig Williams convinced him the Caulfield Sprint was a better option for the flying I'm All The Talk. "I was ready to go to the Lightning and I thought he would have a great chance in it," Portelli said.

"Then Craig rang me about the race at Caulfield and he made some good points. He said that the 1100 metres would be perfect for him and that he would get an easy lead at Caulfield. When you have a jockey like him putting that much work into your horse and he isn't even sure he is going to the race it gives you a bit of confidence." I'm All The Talk has done his preparation in Sydney and was taken to Melbourne on Thursday night. Williams has got the ride. "The other good thing about going to Melbourne, it is for twice the prizemoney," Portelli said.

"I actually think Caulfield will suit [I'm All The Talk] because he runs his so aggressive from the 600 to 400 that when he gets up the rise at Randwick he can be a sitting shot. At Caulfield he will get around the turn and skip away and they won't have as much time to run him down."

Moroney in two minds

Michael Moroney says Merion might have cost himself victory in last week's Caulfield Guineas and it is playing on his mind heading towards the Caulfield Classic on Saturday. "I'm not sure if I'll will run him yet," he said.

"There are a couple of options for him but the $750,000 does make backing up pretty attractive. I have always thought he would be a Derby horse but we could wait with him to the autumn as well. I have won two Derbies but neither of those horses [Second Coming or Monaco Consul] could have been competitive in a Guineas like this bloke."

Moroney said Merion "locked his jaw" and ran off at the first turn in the Guineas, losing his position. "He was on the winner's back and the way he finished off after giving himself a tough run, I think he would have beaten him," Moroney said. "He is a stayer with a great turn of foot and if we are going to the Derby he will have to back-up here or after the Vase. I just have to get it right. I am confident if he doesn't beat himself he will win his next start."

Lees has two to tango

Kris Lees has Caulfield Cup favourite in Lucia Valentina but his day could start off well if Slow Pace can win the David Jones Cup on Saturday.

"He has had a couple of runs back and is getting to his top, this is the perfect race at the perfect time and I would say I'm going to the races with two very good chances," Lees said. "We thought these sort of races will suit because his form in Europe suggests 2000m is his trip."
