Two Mount Isa employees have been rewarded and recognised after receiving a specially developed Customer Service Award, initiated by Mount Isa Deputy Mayor Brett Peterson.
McDonald’s team member Heather Sorensen and ARB sales assistant Brodie Hudson were presented with a custom-made plaque.
Cr Peterson said he had placed a callout on social media in an effort to find Mount Isa’s best customer service providers, and Mrs Sorenson and Mr Hudson received an overwhelming amount of feedback from shoppers.
“I believe that it is extremely important to recognise good customer service, especially in regional cities such as Mount Isa, where good customer service may mean the difference between people spending their money in town or turning to online shopping,” Cr Peterson said.
“Customer service excellence plays a key role in business success and strongly influences consumers to spend their shopping dollars in Mount Isa.
“The reality is that overall many people still feel safer buying from another person than online, but the person-to-person experience must be positive.”
Cr Peterson said that as chairman of business promotion and town planning, he was passionate about promoting good business practices, and the Customer Service Awards would now be a monthly program.
Mrs Sorenson and Mr Hudson agreed that good customer service skills made for a better shopping experience for both customers and staff.
“I look at it as that is the way I would like to be served,” Mrs Sorensen said.
“I think people recognise good service when they get it, and manners certainly make the world a better place.”
