The position was established in July 2009 to help support families experiencing breast cancer.
The McGrath breast care nurse at North West Hospital and Health Service will provide invaluable physical, psychological and emotional support from diagnosis and throughout treatment.
The support is provided free of charge and can be accessed through self-referral.
Ms Radulovic said she was excited and honoured to take on this new role in the Mount Isa community and couldn’t wait to continue the excellent work Liz Kerrison and others had already done in the community.
Ms Radulovic has been nursing for six years, with significant experience in a variety of clinical settings. She believes she can contribute positively to her community, providing support to women experiencing breast cancer, and their families.
“I feel extremely privileged to be given the opportunity to work as a McGrath breast care nurse. I believe that through my new position as Mount Isa’s new McGrath breast care nurse, I can positively contribute to our local community and the North West Health Service by providing support, education and information to women and men and their families experiencing breast cancer,” she said.
Ms Radulovic’s position has been made possible through the federal government’s provision in 2013 of $18.5 million across four years to the McGrath Foundation to recruit, train and place McGrath breast care nurses in locations across Australia.
Families in the Mount Isa community can self-refer to this free service by calling 47444880.
The McGrath Foundation has helped support more than 25,000 Australian families experiencing breast cancer, with 100 McGrath breast care nurses working in communities right across Australia.
