A timely 62 from opener Scott Kyle guided the Black Stars to their second Twenty20 win of the season against the Isa Challengers.
Black Stars skipper Ian Barlow was happy with the way his team started the season.
“Of course the wins are nice, but the most pleasing thing is that all our players are doing their role,” he said.
“Unlike in previous seasons, where we have relied upon one or two stars, it’s great to see everyone chipping in.”
Barlow was particularly impressed with the form of wicket keeper-batsman Scott Kyle.
“Scott was the leading run-scorer a couple of years ago, and it’s pleasing to see him return to form and gain some confidence,” he said.
“It’s important that we get our batting innings off to a strong start, and Scott is doing a good job of that so far this season.”
Despite a solid second-wicket stand from Girish Mahendranath (51) and Naren Ramachandran (41), the Black Stars managed to restrict the Challangers to 8-119 off their 20 overs.
Nathan Mann was again the best with the ball for Starries, claiming three wickets, including two in two balls for the second consecutive week.
“Another to impress me is bowler Nathan Mann, who has led our wicket takers for two weeks in a row,” Barlow said.
“Both matches he has come in halfway through the innings and cleaned up the tail.”
Mann also managed two run-outs at the death of the Challengers’ innings, and Jarrod Hill took 2-9 from his four overs.
