The event was held Thursday at the Hilary Street lookout to help raise money for breast cancer.
Mount Isa and North West Queensland Breast Cancer Support Group set up a merchandise table as well as having Pink Lady silhouettes planted in the ground so those attending the event could write messages to those who have or had cancer.
President of North West Breast Cancer Support Group Mount Isa Patricia Olsen said she was part of this organisation to help create awareness.
“We do this to make awareness, to celebrate people that have passed so they’re not forgotten,” she said.
“Being a survivor myself, it’s about getting awareness so people know we are here for them.”
Next year the group plans on holding the event at the lookout again, but hopes to have more of a turn out – with the idea of a Pink Party. The Mount Isa Hospital will be turning pink on October 27 to help raise funds for breast cancer and the McGrath Foundation.
Ms Olsen challenged Mount Isa to show its support.
“We challenge the community to wear pink on the 27th and come down and pay a gold coin donation for breast cancer,” she said.
A stall will be set up at the hospital from 11am to 3pm to collect donations on the day and will also be there on some days in November.
