Standing in their way are the Cavaliers, who also recorded their first win of the season at the weekend against under-strength Western Bulls.
“We will of course be looking to build on our first win of the season last week, but it’s going to be hard with a couple of key players being out,” Panthers captain Archie Macpherson said.
“Our bowling attack is going to be depleted with Alex Amos and Blaine MacCormack both missing.
“I’ll be counting on Peter Shah and Steve Andrews to take the new ball and lead the attack.
“Both Andrew Shields and Miguel Kapo will be counted on to step up and roll the arm over.
“If we can dismiss openers Shane McCarthey and Eli Jamieson, it will put us on the front foot.
“We will also be targeting Shane McKay, who has apparently been working on his batting in the off-season.”
With a weakened bowling attack available, Macpherson knows his batting line-up needs to put more runs on the board.
“Without our full-strength bowling line-up, players such as myself and Brendon Parker will need to put a big score on the board,” he said.
Cavaliers captain Shane McKay also says taking early wickets is key for his team taking home the points tomorrow.
“Our bowlers have stood up and done a job for us in the past two games, so I’ll be again counting on Luke Gowing, Jason Wellington and Eli Jamieson,” he said.
“If we can dismiss their top-order batsmen like Archie Macpherson, who has always struggled against us, cheaply, we will be in good shape.
“I have no doubts our bowlers will perform. I’m just hopeful our batsmen can put runs on the board and make a competitive total.”
