This is a new initiative by the NRL giving the opportunity for all junior coaching club directors and senior club coaches to further enhance and update knowledge, resulting in positive mentoring, assessing and general overseeing of all club coaches for the 2015 season.
The coach update will run from 5pm to 9pm at Alec Inch Oval, with presenters from the Northern Pride and NRL staff.
The program will include the following: 5pm, coach assessment procedures and techniques; 5.30pm, core skills for the rugby league player (knowing, breaking down, teaching, developing, assessing); 6pm, basic attacking principles – mini/mod/junior international/senior international; 6.30pm, basic defence principles; 7.15pm, using game sense and game-based teaching; 7.45pm, using technology to assist in player and team analysis; 8.15pm, creating a club player skill development progressive program.
New game development officer Laurie Taylor encouraged all coaches who hold a NRL coaching accreditation to attend with an open mind, hoping to learn as much as they can.
To attend, contact Taylor by Wednesday, October 29, via ltaylor@nrl.com.au or 0422 617 672.
