Leanne Kum Sing said she expected about 150 children to attend the Halloween Youth Community Event between 7pm and midnight.
These youth will come from Youth Justice, Young People Ahead and Injilinji.
“I am employed by a legal service provider and have worked closely with socially disadvantaged youths in the region,” Mrs Kum Sing said.
She promised lollies attendees had never seen or tasted before, which she had ordered online and overseas.
Frightening decorations will include jack-o-lanterns, giant spiders, witches and great costumes. “From my personal financial budget I have purchased props, costumes and confectionery to cater for up to 150 children,” she said.
Attendees do not have to wear costumes but those who did would get more treats, she said.
The Mount Isa City Council and businesses such as Coles, Woolworths and Kmart helped support the event with donations, Mrs Kum Sing said.
Mrs Kum Sing went trick or treating for the first time last year with her children and nieces, and “had a ball”.
She had so much fun she decided to host her own event this year.
Other members of the community are welcome, as long as they can get the address details from the Mount Isa Halloween Network – a closed Facebook group.
