Copper City Cycling Club and Cycling Queensland is offering Mount Isa’s cycling enthusiasts a chance to “Come and Try” for free tomorrow from 4-6pm at the Mount Isa Velodrome.
The arena is at the Mount Isa Netball Association complex in the Leichhardt River bed – via Sunflower Street.
It’s open to all age groups and is a chance to be coached by Cycling Queensland’s Emily Rosemond.
Still a top track cyclist, Rosemond is a former speed skater and bronze medallist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and now runs her own coaching business.
Registrations start at 3.30pm.
Athletes are asked to bring their bike, helmet, closed-in shoes and parent if under 18. A small range of bikes and helmets will available to those who do not have them.
Those attending are urged to wear a T-shirt, sunscreen and drink lots of water.
Water will be available at the grounds and some refreshments will be on sale.
The club will have lots of shade up to keep parents and participants out of the sun.
Club officials will also be on hand to give details of how to get racing with the club, with the Copper City Cycling Club planning to launch a junior program on two different closed circuits and have regular racing.
Rosemond will also run a Junior Skills Development Clinic at the Velodrome on Sunday from 8am-10am.
If doing the Isarats Kids Tri come along for as long as possible.
This is a great opportunity to give our kids, the would-be triathletes and road cyclists the chance to gain valuable skills from an expert, with registrations from 7.30am.
