Earlier this month, police charged Vincent O'Dempsey and Gary Dubois with the murders of Barbara McCulkin and her young daughters Vicki and Leanne.

Homicide cold case Detective Inspector Mick Dowie said an anonymous person called Crime Stoppers on October 22 about 12.30pm with more information.

He called on the person to come forward and call Crime Stoppers or the homicide squad again.

"The information that they have provided is of considerable interest to us and it requires a further conversation with that person," he said.

"I can't comment on what the person has provided.

"That person, even though they do contact us and speak to us, they can be guaranteed that their identity will be protected."

Inspector Dowie said a number of people had contacted Crime Stoppers since Mr O'Dempsey and Mr Dubois were arrested on November 18.

"We're looking into each and everyone of those, hence this media appeal," he said.

Mr O'Dempsey and Mr Dubois were also charged with deprivation of liberty and other serious offences relating to the disappearance and suspected killing of the McCulkin trio.

Both men deny the charges.

Police arrested the pair more than 40 years after the McCulkin trio vanished from their Highgate Hill home in January 1974.

At the time of their disappearance, Mrs McCulkin was 34 years old and her daughters Vicki and Leanne were 13 and 11 respectively.

Mr O'Dempsey is now aged 76 and Mr Dubois 67.

The case has long been considered one of Queensland's greatest cold case mysteries and the bodies of the three females have never been found.

Inspector Dowie said the investigation to find their remains was ongoing.
