A SMALL band of businesses and volunteers that keeps one of Mount Isa’s major tourist attractions in tip-top shape has been recognised for its hard work and generosity.
Businesses and volunteers who offer their time to help with the maintenance at Hard Times Mine at Outback at Isa were acknowledged with a barbecue at the Outback at Isa.
Mount Isa Entertainment and Tourism Venues business manager Donna Cole said a number of invaluable contributions have helped maintain the condition of Hard Times Mine so it continued to attract visitors to the city.
Ms Cole acknowledged the support of Ivan McLean, who oversaw the project from Mount Isa Mines, Brett Peterson from Mount Isa Mining Supplies, Steve Butler from Xylem, Shane and Teresa McElligott from Start Maintenance & Construction along with workers Jason Blais, Clint Brennan and Sonny Raitaba.

Thousands of visitors tour Hard Times Mine each year and most are overwhelmed with the authenticity of the mine.
Outback at Isa has won awards for its facility and organisers hope for more success at the upcoming Outback Tourism Awards.
